Sirindhorn Sports Center, Srinakharinwirot University: Shared Sports Facilities for Good Health and Well-being
Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) promotes health and well-being for students, personnel, and the surrounding community through the Sirindhorn Sports Center, which offers a wide range of facilities, activities, training programs, and wellness services. The university’s open access policy allows both the university community and the general public to use its sports services and facilities equitably. Sirindhorn Sports Center ensures that facilities are well-maintained, clean, and safe, and that services are accessible and fair to all users.

Outdoor Sports Stadium
The Main Stadium at Ongkharak Campus features a standard natural grass football field, a synthetic rubber track with 9 running lanes, lighting systems, a 4,000-seat grandstand, four changing rooms, and multipurpose spaces. This venue is used for training, recreational activities, and sports competitions, and is accessible to the public.

Aquatic Sports Complex
The Aquatic Training Building includes three standard pools: a 25 × 50 m swimming and water polo pool, a 20 × 25 m diving pool, and a 12.5 × 25 m warm-up and relaxation pool. The venue has seating for 4,000 spectators, changing rooms, and complete amenities. It is used for both academic training and public exercise programs.

Indoor Sports Facilities
Sports Building 1: Sports Building 1 is a standard multi-purpose indoor sports complex equipped with an air-conditioning and ventilation system. It has a seating capacity of 4,500 and lighting at 1,500 lux. The 1,500-square-meter synthetic rubber flooring is designed to accommodate a wide variety of sports training and competitions, including futsal, handball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and sepak takraw.
The facility includes four locker rooms for athletes, a referee room, an operations room for competition committees, and several multipurpose rooms that can be adapted for different functions. The building is also equipped with security systems and CCTV to ensure user safety. The grandstand and court design meet the standards required to host university-level, regional, and national sports events, making it a central hub for physical activity and sports promotion.
Sports Building 2: Sports Building 2 is a standard multi-purpose indoor sports facility designed for various indoor sports competitions and training activities. The floor is made of resilient parquet wood, covering an area of 1,450 square meters. It currently houses eight badminton courts with synthetic surfaces certified by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), which can also be converted for other sports such as table tennis, volleyball, futsal, basketball, handball, and sepak takraw.
The building is equipped with lighting systems, four locker rooms, multipurpose rooms, a first aid station, and other modern facilities. It also serves as the administrative center of the Sirindhorn Sports Center, providing membership services, facility reservations, and health promotion activities for students, staff, and the general public. Sports science professionals and student assistants are available to provide exercise guidance and training recommendations to users.
Sports Building 3: Sports Building 3 is a standard multi-purpose indoor sports complex covering a total area of over 4,500 square meters. The facility features a 2,242-square-meter resilient parquet floor and accommodates volleyball, basketball, futsal, and sepak takraw courts. It is also equipped with a climbing wall for sport climbing, a gymnastics area, and designated spaces for boxing, Muay Thai, taekwondo, and judo training.
The building includes lighting systems, two locker rooms for athletes, and multiple multipurpose rooms, along with modern amenities and safety measures. Its large and flexible space allows for hosting both training sessions and competitive sports events at various levels, contributing to the promotion of physical activity, recreation, and sports development for the university community and the public.


Outdoor Courts and Recreation Areas
The Sirindhorn Sports Center at Srinakharinwirot University provides a diverse range of outdoor sports and recreational facilities for students, university personnel, and the public. These spaces are designed to promote physical activity, community engagement, and healthy lifestyles. All facilities are well-maintained, equipped with standard lighting systems, and many are accessible free of charge during designated hours.
Softball Field
The standard softball field covers an area of 2,200 square meters, featuring both grass and soil surfaces. It is equipped with lighting systems, a 4,000-seat grandstand, four locker rooms, multipurpose rooms, and other amenities. The field is used for both training and competitive games and can host local and regional events.
Beach Volleyball Courts
Two standard-size beach volleyball courts are available for both training and competitions. The courts can also be adapted for other beach sports and recreational activities on sand surfaces.
Outdoor Volleyball Court
A standard outdoor volleyball court with lighting is open Monday to Friday from 16:30 to 20:30. The court is accessible to everyone at no cost and supports exercise and recreational use by students, staff, and community members.
Outdoor Basketball Court
A standard outdoor basketball court with lighting is also open Monday to Friday from 16:30 to 20:30. The facility is free of charge and encourages physical activity and community engagement through informal games and recreation.
Tennis Courts
The facility includes seven standard tennis courts and one practice wall court. It is equipped with lighting systems, a 200-seat grandstand, and two locker rooms for athletes. These courts are used for training, friendly matches, and competitions.
Playground and Outdoor Fitness Area
The playground and outdoor exercise zone are open to everyone, both members and non-members, free of charge. This area provides a welcoming community space where families and local residents can exercise, play, and spend quality time together.



SWU Fitness Center
The SWU Fitness Center, located on the first floor of Sports Building 2, serves as a state-of-the-art exercise and physical fitness training laboratory for students, staff, and the general public. The center provides a wide range of facilities and equipment designed to enhance cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and overall physical performance. It also includes a dedicated group exercise room, open training spaces, and a comfortable lobby area for users.
Officially opened on 14 August 2023, the SWU Fitness Center offers free access to students and affordable membership rates for staff and the general public, ensuring equitable access for all.


The lobby area includes seating spaces for waiting, relaxing, working, or having meals, with proper waste disposal and an information counter for service inquiries. The main exercise area is organized into five functional training zones:
1. Machine Zone – resistance training using exercise machines to develop muscular strength and endurance.
2. Cardio Zone – equipment for cardiovascular and aerobic fitness.
3. Weight Lifting Zone – equipment for power and strength training.
4. Free Weight Zone – open space for free-weight exercises.
5. Functional Zone – multi-purpose training area for functional movement and diverse workout programs.
the SWU Fitness Center is equipped with approximately 68 international-standard exercise machines (Matrix, Technogym, Johnson) certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and related quality and safety standards.
Additional amenities include restrooms, showers, changing rooms, and a first aid room to ensure user comfort and safety. The fitness center is supervised by sports scientists and trained student assistants who provide guidance on proper equipment use and exercise techniques. On average, 300–350 people use the center daily.
The Sirindhorn Sports Center operates on a non-profit basis, charging minimal fees for maintenance and upkeep of facilities. Its mission is to promote physical activity, recreation, and healthy lifestyles among students, staff, and surrounding communities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for everyone.



Sports and Health Training Programs
The Sirindhorn Sports Center offers a variety of weekly rotating sports and fitness training programs designed to promote physical activity, build healthy habits, and enhance the well-being of students, staff, and community members. All sessions are instructed by students from the Faculty of Physical Education (Sports Science Program), allowing participants to receive guided, evidence-based training while also supporting experiential learning for future sports professionals.
These programs are accessible to all and aim to develop cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and mental well-being through a range of engaging group exercise classes. Examples of weekly classes include:
1. Step Up Class – Aerobic step workout synchronized with music, focusing on improving cardiovascular endurance and aerobic capacity.
2. Power Pump Class – Strength and resistance training with equipment, enhancing muscular strength and endurance.
3. Rhythm Punch Class – Cardio workout inspired by Thai and international boxing movements, performed to rhythmic music.
4. Jammy Jam Class – Dance-based fitness session aimed at calorie burning, improving cardiovascular health, and creating a fun, energetic environment.
5. Circuit Training Class – Full-body workout organized into training stations, combining equipment-based and bodyweight exercises.
6. Yoga Class – Flexibility and balance training with breathing and mindfulness techniques, promoting both physical relaxation and mental calmness.
Through these programs, Sirindhorn Sports Center fosters a vibrant exercise culture and provides opportunities for all participants to engage in structured, enjoyable, and inclusive physical activity that supports both individual health and community well-being.


Sirindhorn Sports Center Projects
Following the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sirindhorn Sports Center launched health promotion initiatives to encourage physical activity and recreation among students, staff, and the community. Through collaborations with student organizations, sports clubs, and external partners, two flagship programs were developed: SWU Football 7v7 Cup to foster student engagement, teamwork, and well-being, and SWU Fit and Firm to promote healthy lifestyles and active living for all age groups. These programs are free of charge, community-oriented, and aim to enhance physical fitness, prevent disease, and build a sustainable culture of exercise and health.

SWU FIT AND FIRM Project
At present, exercise has become a popular trend among people of all ages. Health care is now considered essential for everyone, as maintaining good physical fitness helps strengthen the body, prevent various diseases, reduce stress, build a social network among health-conscious individuals, and enhance overall quality of life.
The Sirindhorn Sports Center, Faculty of Physical Education, which provides facilities, sports fields, fitness activities, and recreational programs, recognizes the importance of promoting physical activity and good health among students, university personnel, and the general public. The Center also encourages the creation of a health-oriented community and collects exercise statistics for personal fitness tracking.
Therefore, the Sirindhorn Sports Center, Faculty of Physical Education, Srinakharinwirot University, has initiated the SWU Fit and Firm Project to promote physical activity, exercise, and sports among students, staff, and the public. The project aims to collect exercise data, foster a supportive fitness community, and enhance physical health and strength for all participants.
Objectives
1. encourage students, university personnel, and the public to engage in diverse physical activities.
2. promote the development of physical fitness and overall good health.
3. increase participation in regular physical activities among students, personnel, and the public.
In addition to promoting exercise and recreation, this project allows students to gain hands-on experience through activity organization, develop teamwork skills, and prepare for future careers. It also serves as a platform for educating community members about proper exercise techniques for better health.
The Sirindhorn Sports Center plays an important role in supporting teaching and research in related academic fields, providing academic services in sports, exercise, recreation, and health promotion, as well as engaging in special missions for the community—aligning with the university’s vision:
“Srinakharinwirot University: A Learning University for Society.”
